The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa State yesterday explained why it delayed in making its position known on the controversy rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the choice of candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in February 2012.
The commission said though it had commenced the update of its electronic voter register in the state ahead of next year’s governorship election in the state, the delay in announcing the final list of governorship aspirants was the prerogative of the national headquarters of the commission which would soon do so after the deadline for submission names by political parties.
