Nasarawa PDP Exco Gets Vote Of No Confidence

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for its state congress, Sen? Abdullahi Adamu led faction, has passed a vote of no confidence on the present party executive in Nasarawa.

The faction called “PDP Concern Forum” wants the executive led by its current chairman Yunana Iliya and other executive members at the ward level? to resign as a matter of urgency.

The forum also called for the setting up of a transition committee to supervise the conduct of the congress.

In a meeting held on Sunday in Lafia, the forum through a motion by Sarki Tanko, former administrator, Azara Development Area, seconded by Suleiman Tafida, former Nasarawa Eggon party secretary, urged its supporters to pass a vote of no confidence on the Yunana Iliya led executive.

They, however, threatened to demand from the national secretariat of the party the constitution of a transition committee that would supervise the coming congress in the state.

Meanwhile, the state executive of the party had threatened to sanction by way of suspension, any party member found to be romancing with the Adamu led faction.

In his remarks, Adamu, a founding member of the party, cautioned genuine party supporters to be wary of those lacking in commitment but who would do anything to destroy the party.

He challenged those claiming to be advancing the cause of the party in the state to consider the the dwindling fortune of the party, stressing that at the appropriate time, “we will tell you where you went wrong.”

Musa Elayo, former FCT minister of state, disclosed that since 2007, this was the first time he was attending a PDP meeting in the state.

According to him, I am an Alago man, but since Doma came to power, I was relegated to the background because I was brutally frank in my comments.

On his part, Abubakar Akirga, chairman of the forum, stated that plans were on top gear to sue the present executive for alleged embezzling of party funds of about N20 million.

He raised alarm over alleged moves by the executive to merely swap positions as they had perfected plans to manipulate the congress to their advantage.
