Security Agencies Mount Heavy Checks In Jos

Tight security checks are being conducted at strategic points in Jos and Bukuru metropolis following the bomb blasts that hit the COCIN Headquarters Church in Jos on Sunday.

The fierce-looking security men insisted on searching all vehicles and their passengers, with the motorists forced to open their car booths and bonnets.

The passengers were also forced to open their luggage for checks as the security men ransacked practically everything.

However, the situation led to long queues of vehicles at various check points, while many commuters were left stranded along the roads.

The road between NIPOST to Terminus market in Jos was blocked, forcing commuters to trek long distances.

Also blocked was the Joseph Gomwalk Road by Hill Station Hotel near the Plateau Press Centre.

The security situation affected Church attendance, as the morning blast threw fears down the spines of members of the public.

Security sources indicated that the security beef up was to avoid a reprisal attack in the town.
