We’ll Protect Corps Members In Niger – Gov Aliyu Assures

Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has assured corps members posted to the state of their security while urging them to continue to exhibit acts that would promote national unity.

The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr. Daniel Sheshere, said this at the end of the orientation exercise at the NYSC temporary orientation camp in Minna, yesterday.

Earlier, there was a delay from the state government to get the camp ready following the rejection of the former temporary camp.

Governor Babangida assured that wherever the corps members were posted to in the state, they were safe and therefore urged them not to be afraid to mix with the people of Niger State.

According to him, “I can assure you of the readiness of our security men and the good people of Niger State to make your one year of national service in the state a memorable one.”??

The governor advised the NYSC members to avoid embarking on unnecessary journeys which he said could result in unpleasant incidents.

He also admonished them to contribute positively to the development of the state by adding value to their host communities, as his government would always reward excellence and hard work.

He however urged employers of NYSC members in the state not to reject those posted to their organisations as the rejection of corps members would undermine the fundamental ideals of the scheme.

The Niger State Coordinator of NYSC, Hajiya Fadimatu Mohammed, had earlier explained that the transformations in the scheme which emphasised posting of members to critical sectors of the nation’s economy was strictly adhered to
She therefore expressed the appreciation of the scheme to the state government for giving N3000 as transport allowances to the corps members and assisting the scheme in many ways in the state.
