NUJ President Urges Journalists To Seek Political Positions

The President of the?? Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mohammed Garba, has urged members of the pen profession not to perpetually remain at the level of being the watchdogs of the Nigerian Society but to also be ready to sacrifice their wealth of experience towards? the nation building? by seeking and? aspiring for? political positions in government.

Garba? in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP SUNDAY? said,? journalists? have? sacrificed so much? to the political evolution of the? Nigerian project , stressing? that it is rather unfortunate that?? politicians? are the ones who? eventually? reap? from? the selfless sacrifices of? journalists? and over the years have exhibited? high degree? of corruption and unpatriotic? tendencies? by mismanaging? the commonwealth of the county. He therefore enjoined? journalists? to? be politically conscious and to? seek for elective positions? in government .
