Jonathan Directs NEITI Board To Sanction Erring Companies

President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the newly inaugurated National Stakeholders’ Working Group (NSWG) of the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) to apply appropriate sanctions as provided for by law on all erring entities.

The President stressed that all entities frustrating the NEITI process by refusing to cooperate fully with the NEITI audit or remediation process, must be identified by the NSWG for possible sanctions.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, at the inauguration of the new NEITI Board, under the Chairmanship of Ledum Mitee, Jonathan restated government’s commitment to ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s extractive sector.
