Drivers In Court Over Theft Of N5.5m Jeep

The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned two drivers, who allegedly conspired and stole a Kia Sportage jeep worth N5.5 million from where it was parked.

Patrick Onyeze and James Imeh, aged 35 and 31 years respectively, were charged along with one Sunday Obasi, 31.

They trio, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court.

Onyeze resides at Orile, while Imeh and Obasi had no fixed address.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Adeshida Adefisayo, said that the defendants committed the offences on July 23 at ?8.00 a.m. at 126 Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos.

He said that the jeep, marked CG-242-KSF, belonged to System Services Ltd.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 285(10) and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

Magistrate A.O. Soladoye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each.

She adjourned the case till Oct. 19 for mention. (NAN)
