Police Arraign Man For Allegedly Possessing Stolen Vehicles

The police on Wednesday arraigned a driver, Okechukwu Sunday, 30, before an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly being in possession of vehicles suspected to be stolen.

Police prosecutor, Sgt. Salisu Mohammed, told the court that the police were on patrol at Kado, Abuja, when they caught the suspect with two L300 Mitsubishi buses suspected to be stolen.

He said that the accused of Kuchi Benna Kado, Abuja, committed the offence on Sept. 28.

Mohammed further said that the buses had the inscription of a church, adding that the inscription was not visible.

He said that the accused presented forged vehicle particulars when the police ordered him to do so.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the accused could not give a satisfactory account of the buses.

He said the offence contravened Sections 319 (A) of the Penal Code.

The suspect, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ramatu Gulma, ordered that the accused should be remanded in Suleja prison in Niger.

Gulma ordered the accused to file a formal bail application and adjourned the case to Nov. 15 for further hearing.
