Hill Top Mansion Fire: How I Escaped Death – Obasanjo

The former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was yesterday? full of praises to God as he narrated how he narrowly escaped from the inferno that gutted his hilltop mansion last week.

Obasanjo, while receiving the executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State chapter, at the mansion, said that but for divine intervention, he would have suffocated to death.

“The thickness of smoke which pervaded my room was enough to terminate a life most especially if it happened in the middle of the night, but I thanked God that I am alive today”.

It will be recalled that mysterious fire last week razed the office of Obasanjo’s private secretary. The office was said to be close to Obasanjo’s bedroom.

“I would have been a dead person now but I appreciate the mercy and kindness of God,” he said

In another development, Obasanjo said that the surest way for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win elections in Lagos State was the leaders of the party in the State to bury their individual ego and remain united.

The former President said this when the PDP executives in Lagos state paid a courtesy visit on him at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun state, yesterday.

Obasanjo said that in order to make PDP the ruling party in Lagos state, the leaders need to sink their ego and sacrifice their individual interest for the general interest of the party.

He described PDP as a party in wilderness in Lagos state, and noted that leaders of the party needed to work together to build the party and restore it to the right path.
