Zambia And Norway In Stalemate

Reigning African champions Zambia wasted a myriad of scoring opportunities as they battled to a goalless draw against Norway at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium yesterday.

In the final warm-up international before commencing the defence of the title Chipolopolo won last February, the kings of African football exhibited a neat passing game punctuated by individual brilliant displays to the satisfaction the home crowd.

Rainford Kalaba, Jacob Mulenga, 2012 Zambian Footballer of the Year Mukuka Mulenga, Emmanuel Mayuka, Collins Mbesuma, skipper Chris Katongo and Nathan Sinkala all had opportunities to score but could not find a way past Norway goalie Hansen Andre.

On Sunday, Chipolopolo fly back to South Africa where they have been preparing since 26 December.

Chipolopolo commence the defence of her title with a January 21 fixture against Ethiopia before taking on Nigeria on the 25th and complete Group C business against Burkina Faso on the 29th.

The reigning kings of African football will play all their group matches at Mbombela and winning Group C would see Zambia stay in Mbombela for both the quarter-final.
