Gombe Spends N10bn On Tertiary Schools

The Gombe State government has spent over N10 billion for the construction of its College of Education, Billiri, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe, School of Health Technology, Kaltungo, and two Schools of Remedial Studies in Dukku, and Kumo in Akko local government among others.

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo disclosed this during the inspection of projects in various parts of the state.

He said apart from the construction and reconstruction of several tertiary institutions of learning, a number of primary and secondary schools were also receiving attention.

The governor said the state government had partnered with the University of Maiduguri to establish two remedial studies centres one in Dukku for girls and another one in Kumo for both girls and boys.

Dankwambo said the state government also bought 2,500 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board J(AMB) forms for qualified students while about 200 students had been sponsored to study at the Nigerian Maritime Academy, Oron in AkwaIbom State

According to him, about N120 million had been spent on scholarship e-payment where 11,000 e-cards had been distributed to the students particularly at Gombe State University.?

He explained that the University of Maiduguri under the partnership would train 1,000 youths at the Schools of Remedial Studies to qualify for direct admission into university.
